Synopsis for Season 10, Episode 4 “Paper Moon”
WEREWOLF KATE RETURNS — A recent string of werewolf attacks points to a surprising culprit – Kate (guest star Britni Sheridan), the werewolf Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) let live. Jeannot Szwarc directed the episode written by Adam Glass (#1004). Original airdate 10/28/2014.
This is so cool! I actually wrote about how Kate should have her own spin-off and I just felt that there was so much more to be told about her story. I am so glad that she will be back so soon!
Jeremy Carver revealed at Comic Con last July that there would be some very strong and powerful (both new and returning) female characters in Season 10 but, at the time, I didn’t really believe him. Especially after the announcement of the character Ann-Marie who was basically just a sex object for Demon Dean in episode 1 “Black“, which aired this week. (However, surprisingly she was a much stronger character than I initially expected with a lot of depth and determination.)
But it looks like the writers are keeping to their word, bringing back all the most loved female characters. So far, confirmed female returning characters include Hannah, Charlie Bradbury, Sheriff Jody Mills, Sheriff Donna Hanscum, Claire Novak and, now, Kate the werewolf.
I’m still yet to hear when one of my favourite characters, Krissy Chambers, is set to return and I would also love to see more of Annie Jones as well, who appeared to have been starting to settle down with Jody Mills when we last saw her. (Annie may even be making an appearance when her adopted mother does). Then there’s Dorothy who was last seen with Charlie as they entered the Land of Oz in 9.04 “Slumber Party“, so there is a possibility that she will return with her as well. There is also speculation of the Knight of Hell, Abaddon, making a mighty comeback.
As much as I loved Abaddon with all my heart, her death was both visually stunning and pivotal to the story. I don’t really want the writers to cop out and bring her back when so many other, similarly strong and powerful, female demons (Ruby, Meg, Lilith) have just been left to be forgotten.
